A power metal concept album complete with a 77 page booklet to accompany it. Or even a short comic book series to coincide with story the way Alice Cooper did with "The Last Temptation" Or a concept album that is simply part 1 of a trilogy!

The closest Stryper ever came to speed metal in my opinion was the Reign and we all know how that went. NOT GOOD. Ok maybe the Reign was a bad example. Painfuly horrible song. But years pass. Life experience gained. I think they have the chops to pull it off.

I always thought they should have done some type of concept album like Operation Mindcrime. Im surprised they havent by this time. Maybe they will in the future.

I still think the idea of speed metal is a good one. but the concept album idea is something I'm not to sure of. Maybe if your Priest and already have enough money to just play with, Maybe?

I think a good progressive metal, speed metal album to make all the critics that don't take Stryper seriously stand up to attention and realize how good they are! I've got friends that wont even give them a chance, give me a weapon to show them what they can do.

Now the covers album idea, I like it too. Just do good songs that will impress the critics. A good Queen tune, Priest, Zep, there are so many possibilities.
Something like Garage days that Metallica did. Not too polished but really rockin'.
Maybe heavy up some softer stuff by other artists? That would be exciting too.
Just dont take a good song and soften it up and look silly!

With the time table they are talking either they have been writing all tour, or its something they already have, I think its got to be covers myself.
After waiting so many years after Against the Law till reuniting I'll take anything and everything.

The Roxx Regime Demos is kinda like that, isn't it? Not sure because not that big of a Metallica fan, so I haven't heard that album.

***WET BLANKET ALERT*** ;-)

I may have to rescind my earlier post about ",,,I'll buy it regardless...". I don't for a New York minute question their commitment to Christ - last time I read Matthew 7, the statement about 'judge not' is still in red letters - but I'm not sure I want to listen to those songs again. The band's musical influences are just like mine - Priest, Deep Purple, etc. But during that time I also had a serious drug & alcohol problem, and when I hear those songs now, that's what I'm reminded of.

Stryper's still my favorite band, and Lord willing, next tour I'll see 'em again. (I'll even buy VIP tics again - hint hint ;-) .....)

Maybe their NEXT album could be a 'Stryper-ized' Praise & Worship CD?

Well now its been officially announced its a covers album, I have only one request
I am a member of only 2 band forums and my other favorite band of all time is the German metal band ACCEPT. They are reuniting right now getting ready to release a new album and going to tour this year. If If Stryper would cover one of their tunes I'd be totally Thrilled.
Anyone who thinks they are some heathen band has to realize that out of all the albums they did thee is only one song with any foul language in it. The rest is really pretty innocent stuff for how heavy and fast they are. They even listen to some Christian bands and have been on their Forums and have stated their christian beliefs.
The other thing is ACCEPT is huge all over the world, here in the states they dont have quite as big of following but any good metal musician has the upmost respect for them.

Stryper please cover an ACCEPT Song.

Painfully horrible??? I don't recall Stryper doing anything that can be described as "painfully horrible".

So far I think ALL of the songs are excellent choices! This is really gonna Rock!

One song I would like to hear Stryper do is Modern Day Cowboys -by TESLA. I think they could pull-off an improvment on the original Classic!

Can't wait to gt my hands on this one guys!

"Shout it out Loud" - Kiss
"Rock and Roll All Nite"- Mike and Oz could trade vocals ala Paul and Gene.
Those are two i'd like to hear, but I'm STOKED to hear "The Trooper". :headbang
