There is no such thing as "christian" rock...or "secular" rock...no such thing as "christian" music ..or "secular" music...GOD INVENTED MUSIC...PERIOD....GOD MADE EVERYTHING...anything can be used for good or evil...anything....

Music itself is not 'Buddhist' or 'Christian', etc. but LYRICS certainly can have a positive message, a Christian message, just a fun message, or even a negative message.

That is the whole reason Stryper was started, and the whole reason they used positive lyrics. Was it pointless to sing clean lyrics, or to sing about God? I don't believe it was.
In Rolling Stone magazine, Robert said he loved the Van Halen sound but he did NOT dig the message of "Runnin' With the Devil".

Speed metal would be awesome, but I won't hold my breath on that one.

My guess is Praise and Worship considering how many albums some of these P&W guys are selling now days(Chris Tomlin, Third Day, etc.). Not saying that it's all about money, however, Michael did say they've got to make wise choices to be able to pay the bills. That's my take.

However, my belief is the best move they could make would be to put out a blistering metal masterpiece. If they put out another attention grabbing anthem like To Hell With The Devil, people would notice.

Someone mentioned a classic hymns CD like Michael did...I'd go one step further. Today's contemporary worship songs played by Stryper like some of the one's they did on the church Tour, but being it was limited, and unplugged. Plug it back in and crank it to 11 and make something we could all have access to worship God with...Stryper style! I saw some youtube footage of Michael doing some praise & worship with his acoustic, but never saw any of the whole band. I heard they had done Amazing Love, Draw Me Close and I Can Only Imagine to name a few...would love to see and hear it! Imagine Stryper performing worship songs by News Boys, Kutless, Mercy Me, Chris Tomlin, Casting Crowns, BlueTree and Hosanna Integrity. I know they would absolutely shred on that incredible guitar solo on "Let the River Flow"
Just a thought! Kinda like the "Metal Praise" CD from late 80's ..."Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might...heaven and earth are filled with Your glory...Hosanna" awesome song done by multiple Christian metal artists.
God bless and keep on rocking for the Rock!
:robspin

Dohh! I almost forgot Lincoln Brewster (that brother can shred on a guitar), and my wife's favorite...Third Day

As far as the new covers album, I hope they have a blast and can just have fun with it! I'll buy it even though I'm only familiar with half of the material...however I do like the fact they are covering "Carry on Wayward Son" by Kansas! I would have hoped for some of the bands I did all my woodshedding (ProMark 5B drumsticks) to, such as Foreigner, Shooting Star, Boston, Triumph, Styx, etc.

I'm happy with whatever Stryper does. I would love them to do an extended version of "Honestly" that is studio recorded and not live. :band

Satan was the chief musician in Heaven. Don't tell me he doesn't use music to his advantage. I doubt he's turning people on to Stryper over Slayer.....and there's a reason for it. It's because Stryper preaches the Word and he's got no use for it.

Just so you know...there is absolutely nothing in the Bible about Satan being the chief of music (or anything else) in heaven.

I was always told this when I was growing up. It almost seems that someone said this as a response to the early R&B movement and people ate it up as if it were the gospel.

I'd be interested to hear of any scripture that backs this claim up.

Yep! it's called "preaching the doctrines of man as though they were the doctrines of God". Our "CHRISTIAN" churches are full of non-sense such as this!
